System Transformation Monthly Update - August 2018

With final preparations under way to support the transformed disability support system in Mid-Central's roll out on 1 October, essential training is underway to support Connectors/ Kaituhono in their new roles.

It has been really important to find the right people for all the roles in the two teams, as they are a critical part of being able to deliver a transformed disability support system. The system will give disabled people and whanau more flexible options and greater decision-making over their support and lives.

With the System Transformation prototype of the new disability support system in the MidCentral rolling out on 1 October, all the Connectors/Kaitūhono have begun their training and induction. The training for the teams includes being educated about Deaf culture, the United Nation’s Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and alternative communication.

The Connectors/Kaitūhono are excited about meeting with disabled people and their whānau from 1 October this year.
