Disability Action Plan 2019-2022: workshops

What should be in the new Disability Action Plan 2019-2022? The Office for Disability Issues and the Disabled Peoples Organisations Coalition are holding workshops to hear your ideas. You can also share your ideas online, until 5pm Monday 25 February.

Nau mai, haere mai.

The Office for Disability Issues and the Disabled Peoples’ Organisations (DPOs) Coalition are holding workshops to listen to ideas about what should be in the new Disability Action Plan (DAP) 2019-2022.  These workshops are part of a series to be held around the country which includes an online consultation.

The DAP is important as it is the government’s commitment to actions to implement the New Zealand Disability Strategy (2016-2026). This work builds on meetings held in 2018 by Hon Carmel Sepuloni, Minister for Disability Issues, to gather ideas from disabled people in Whangarei, New Plymouth, Tauranga, Invercargill, Rotorua and Hamilton.

ODI and the DPOs would love to visit each and every region, however our time and resources are limited.

Share your ideas online

The ODI has made an accessible online consultation tool available to gather your ideas about the Disability Action Plan at https://dap-workshop.odi.govt.nz/   Please engage with us via phone, email, facebook or twitter if you are unable to attend one of the workshops. We are accepting ideas online until 5pm Monday 25 February.

Take part in a workshop

The workshops will be held around New Zealand from November 2018 until February 2019. We will try and keep each workshop to one and a half hours. Full details about workshop dates and times will be published below as they become available.

People who can’t make the meetings may wish to provide their views online or by text or by making a video submission.

The workshops will start with a short presentation and then focus on listening to ideas about what should be in the new Disability Action Plan 2019-2022. Light refreshments will be provided.

Please RSVP to odi@msd.govt.nz or Text: 029 495 0010 , with the subject line: DAP Workshop and the city, date and time of the session. The workshops will have hearing loops available. Please advise of any other accessibility needs you might have.

Please pass this information to anyone in your network who may be interested in attending.
