Awhingā Mātua is an online community parents of disabled and medically fragile tamariki. We talked to Emily Writes, one of the founders, about the organisation.
It will help address the current inequity where people who experience an accident receive much more support than a person with a non-accident-related health condition or disability, despite a similar loss of ability to work.
"I want to highlight the preciousness of ordinary creatures, and inspire people to look closer at what they deem “Impossible”. I also hope that my exhibition is a message to those who are different, and those who face challenges that others may not understand. "
