15: ASENZ training and workshops

The Association for Supported Employment in New Zealand (ASENZ) is firming up their dates for training and workshops.

Rotorua: 21 and 22 June 2010. Places available.

Manakau: "Spinal Cord Impairment", 13 and 14 July 2010. This programme has been developed and will be presented by Arron Perriam National Manager Kaleidoscope to tie in with the ACC contracts. Registrations must be in by 18th June.

ASENZ Conference 2010 - "Reaching Peal Potential" will be held in Wellington 13 and 14 September 2010. The focus is on two areas.

  • For people with disabilities it is about ‘a real job' being one of the ways for them to reach their own peak potential.
  • For Supported Employment practitioners to reach theirs, it's about best practice, training, motivation, job satisfaction and professionalism.

16: Health Promotion Forum of New Zealand is holding a symposium Whānau Ora, Tamariki Ora – The Wellbeing of Families and Children

Health Promotion Forum of New Zealand is holding a symposium Whānau Ora, Tamariki Ora - The Wellbeing of Families and Children on Thursday 1 and Friday 2 July 2010 in Wellington.

The four workshops are structured so all registrants will get to two workshops each day.

17: New Zealand Federation of Vocational and Support Services Conference 23-24 June 2010.

The New Zealand Federation of Vocational and Support Services (VASS) is holding their national conference in Auckland on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 June 2010. Registrations are now open.

The conference theme is "Allies and Collaborators" and will explore building community networks, opportunities for collaboration and looking at ways providers can better support the people they serve.

18: NZ Home Health Association Conference 2010.

The New Zealand Home Health Association is the industry association for providers of home support services. The NZ Home Health Association Conference has a theme of "Dollars and Sense." The venue is Holiday Inn, Auckland Airport, 1 - 3 September 2010. Papers this year are on Elder Services, Standards/Quality/Audit, and Information Technology.

19: Deaf Expo planned for Auckland region

Deaf Expo 2 is planned to be held in Auckland on 4 September 2010. It is expected to host a number of trade displays and exhibitions for government agencies, NGO organisations and Deaf/hearing companies to display products or services to the Deaf and hearing impaired communities prior to Deaf Awareness Week.

20: Waikato Health and Disability Expo

The Waikato Health and Disability Expo is on Friday 17 and 18 September 2010. Information will be available on services and support available. Entry is free.

21: New Zealand Council of Social Services Conference.

 

New Zealand Council of Social Services (NZCOSS) is calling for abstracts for their national conference, which will be held in Dunedin 17-19 November 2010. The conference themes are "Family and Community Sustainability" and "Organisation and Sector Sustainability". There are options of making an address, running a workshop or a combination of the both.

Abstracts must be received by Friday 2 July 2010.

22: Family Planning Conference

The Family Planning Conference is being held in Wellington in 15-17 October 2010.  They are calling for extracts from academics, clinicians, health promoters, policy makers and researchers. Submission of abstracts close 1 July 2010.

23: Applied Ethics and Related Law for Health Professionals Study Day 19 November 2010.

This one-day Auckland event provides workshops to assist participants in their ethical decision-making. The study day is relevant to health and disability providers, registered health practitioners, managers and educators.

Registration closes 5 November 2010.

24: Access Tourism Survey to Help Plan Conference

Auckland University of Technology (AUT) and New Zealand Tourism Research Institute is planning to hold a one or two day conference in October 2010, at AUT about Access Tourism.

Access Tourism includes tourism, hospitality, and travel for people with disabilities, seniors, and Baby Boomers who will experience increasing disability as they age.

They would like your input into some aspects of the proposed conference.
