Part Four: Sector news.
This is the Office's email update of 24 February 2010.
11: Work and Your Rights in New Zealand
Works4 Us is an Employment Advocacy Service established by People First in 2009. The first goal of Works4Us is to continue to inform and educate all disabled workers about their employment rights.
To help achieve this goal the booklet Work and Your Rights in New Zealand has been reviewed and reprinted with the support of the Ministry for Social Development and IHC. The booklet is easy to read, in plain language and offers an introduction to work. Other resource material is also available.
Other areas Works4 Us are interested in are:
- assist in training which includes sessions from the NZ Federation of Vocational and Support Services Inc (VASS) and the Department of Labour Inspectorate
- talking with groups and at conferences in the Disability Sector to share information about employment for disabled workers
- liaising with the Employers Disability Network, and
- to continue to build on the relationships it has established with other groups in the sector particularly those who are working in the employment field.
