12: Attitude Awards 3 December 2009
The Attitude Awards were held in Auckland on the International Day of Disabled Persons to celebrate the outstanding achievements of New Zealanders living with a disability. The awards have grown out of the Attitude TV series which screens on TV ONE on Sundays.
The winners were:
- Robbie Francis-Attitude ACC Supreme Award
- Paula Tesoriero-Attitude Sport Performer of the Year Award - the highest achiever in sport for 2009.
- Matthew Aitken - Attitude Courage in Sport Award - a person of any age striving to lead an active sporting life despite their disability.
- Julie Bartlett - Attitude Community Award - an individual with or without a disability who has made a significant contribution to improving the lives of people with disabilities.
- Glynne MacLean - Attitude Artistic Achievement Award - a disabled individual who has made a difference through their creativity. Open to people passionate about theatre, literature, dance, music, comedy, photography, film, painting, sculpture but not limited to - the list is endless.
- Robbie Francis -Attitude Youth Award - a youth (aged between 15 and 25) who has made a significant contribution to improving the lives of disabled people.
- Karen Michalanney -Spirit of Attitude Award - a person who has overcome hardship to achieve their personal goals. Someone who epitomises the positive spirit we seek to promote through the Attitude TV series.
- Blenheim Foods - Attitude ACC Employer Award - an employer who is a role model in providing outstanding recruitment and retention opportunities for people with disabilities. They have demonstrated excellence in making disability equality integral to their business.
- Robert Martin -Attitude Hall of Fame - this award is made to an individual, living or deceased, for a lifetime's work and success in the furtherance of the human and civil rights of disabled people.
- Mackenzie Kench - Attitude Person of The Year - this award celebrates a New Zealander who has screened on Attitude TV between 1 September 2008 and 31 August 2009.
13: Arts For All: Opening doors to disabled people
The publication "Arts For All: Opening doors to disabled people" was launched by Arts Access Aotearoa at Te Papa on 4 December 2009. It is a practical guide aimed at providing practical ways to increase access to the arts, market events to the disabled community and build audiences.

14: Job Vacancy Disabled Persons Assembly
Chief Executive Officer - Disabled Persons Assembly (NZ) Inc - DPA
DPA is seeking a person for the role of Chief Executive Officer. The main purpose of this position is to lead, direct and manage DPA. DPA is the national assembly of people with disabilities and is an umbrella organisation for all people with disabilities in New Zealand. The closing date for applications is 4pm, Friday 15 January 2010.

15: Working Together More fund
A new fund has been launched that may fund disability groups. In October 2009, the Working Together More fund - He Pūtea Mahi Tahi was launched. The goal of the fund is to assist community groups interested in working together more closely to do so, in order to make a greater difference for the people and communities they serve. The fund can provide seeding money and expertise. The Working Together More Fund is made up of four funding organisations - the Todd Foundation, Tindall Foundation, Wayne Francis Charitable Trust and the J R McKenzie Trust. The next funding round closes 12 March 2010.
