12: Prisoners with disabilities project

There is still a chance to provide information into the National Health Committee's project on Health of Prisoners and their Families - closing date 14 December 2009.  The National Health Committee provides advice on disability support services and access to health care for disabled people.

The National Health Committee is interested in feedback:

  • from anyone who has worked with or assisted a prisoner with a disability either before or after their release from prison
  • or a family member with a disability of a prisoner.

It does not have to be a formal briefing.

Liza Wilcox is the project manager. She would like to hear from anyone involved in supporting a deaf prisoner or family member of a prisoner to get a sense of the main issues and key obstacles about support and participation in prison, prisoners reintegrating within the community and problems faced by their families.
