The Disabled Sailing Trust NZ is seeking help to fundraise, build and operate a 15-metre purpose-built catamaran that can be sailed by a disabled crew. Families and caregivers will also be able to enjoy sailing adventures and water activities from a few hours to a few days.

A disabled person will be able to take full part in sailing the catamaran through the adapted controls under the supervision of a qualified skipper.
The yacht will be based in Auckland, probably in the Viaduct Basin, but possibly operating out of Wellington or Christchurch two or three months of the year.
The estimated cost for the yacht is $2 000 000 (in the water cost excluding GST), with an annual operating expenses of $200 000 (excluding GST).
The Trust is particularly interested in hearing from potential users of the catamaran, both groups and individuals.
