15: DPA Land Transport Safety Forum, Christchurch 23 July 2008.

19: Current Internationally-accepted best practice for helping people with developmental disabilities 24-25 July 2008.

The University of Auckland is hosting a seminar on "Current internationally- accepted best practices for helping people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities" on 24-25 July 2008.

The guest speakers are Wayne Fisher, H.B Munroe Professor of Behavioural Research in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Nebraska Medical Centre and Director of the Centre for Austism Spectrum Disorders at the Munroe-Meyer Institute; and Cathleen Piazza, Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Nebraska Medical Centre and the Director of the Pediatric Feeding Disorders Programme at the Munroe-Meyer Institute.

20: Fourth Mental Health Promotion Hui 7-8 August 2008.

The Mental Health Foundation is working in partnership with Regional Public Health, Vakaola Pacific to support and strengthen mental health promotion and to identify and develop linkages across sectors through evidence, information sharing and networking.

The conference theme is Te Pae Mahutonga (Southern Cross Star Constellation) as a framework for wellness. Conference organisers are calling for papers which align with one of the six stars of Te Pae Mahutonga. The four central stars of the Southern Cross represent four key tasks of health promotion;
• Mauriora - cultural identity
• Waiora - physical environment
• Te Oranga - participation in society
• Toiora - healthy lifestyles.

There are also the two pointers that represent Nga Manukura, community leadership and Te Mana Whakahaere, autonomy.

The Conference will be held at the Orongomai Marae, Upper Hutt from 7-8
August 2008.

22: Touch Compass community dance workshops August 2008.

29: Down Under Institute event – Hamilton 22-26 February 2009.

The Lifestyle Trust and Disability Resource Centre (Hawkes Bay) Trust are co-hosting an event in Hamilton in February 2009 which has a focus on inclusion, community and diversity. This event is largely based on the Toronto Summer Institute that has been delivered in Canada for the past 20 years. 

The event aims to bring together people working actively on the complex issues of inclusion and diversity in communities, workplaces and schools. It will be open to people who are involved with or part of any group that face barriers to inclusion within general society.  This has a focus on but is not exclusive to disabled people.  The number of open registrations for this event is limited.

30: Momentum 09: International Disability Arts Symposium 4-7 March 2009.

Momentum 09 is a project of Diversityworks Trust with support from ASB
Community Trust, Arts Regional Trust, AUT University, Jubilee Trust,
Community Organisation Grants Scheme and the International Guild of Disabled
Artists and Performers.

The symposium includes:
