The New Zealand System: A comprehensive, integrated response to disability

The New Zealand Disability Strategy is both a part of and a significant driver of a comprehensive, integrated and systemic response to the needs of New Zealanders with disabilities. It is a response that does more than reference disability issues in legislation. It extends beyond central government alone.

Our approach acknowledges the need for action, mandating it and putting in place the legislation, infrastructure, practices and support mechanisms to give effect to our commitment. It is about relationships and working in partnership with all those who have a will to and a role in making it happen.
