1. Affirmative Action Review
Desired Outcome
Identify actions to implement New Zealand Disability Strategy.
Gain buy-in from sections and regions.
Description
Develop EEO policy and practices that can, or do, contribute to implementation of the New Zealand Disability Strategy.
Measures and Timeframes
Involve interested employees in the identifying and planning of Disability initiatives within the EEO Policy.

2. Disability Awareness Training
Desired Outcome
Increase front line reception staff awareness on discrimination issues to create a safe and supportive work environment.
Staff provided with appropriate training to ensure service delivery is consistent with the New Zealand Disability Strategy.
Description
All Access services and Reception staff trained in disability awareness. This will include providing staff with specific training in working with disabled customers.
Measures and Timeframes
Diversity Awareness training will be built into the 2005-2006 HR Training Business Plan.
All Archives New Zealand staff, including the regions, will have participated in appropriate training, and will have a greater understanding of disability issues by 30 April 2006.

3. Customer Focus
Desired Outcome
All disabled visitors are aware of accessible features that will enable them to visit Archives New Zealand.
Description
Archives New Zealand will review the availability of information regarding physical access and equipment for public access areas and market services available for visitors with disabilities.
Produce a brochure to market services eg the availability of a car park , for disabled people.
Measures and Timeframes
Review public access areas at Regional Offices and Head Office and itemise services available to assist people with disabilities to access building, services, and resources by 31 December 2005.
Produce brochure marketing services for visitors with disabilities by June 2006.
