Progress in implementing the New Zealand Disability Strategy 2001
The first progress report on implementation of the New Zealand Disability Strategy covers the initial 11 government departments that submitted work plans for the period July 2001 to June 2002. Under the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000, the Minister for Disability Issues is required to report to Parliament by the end of each calender year on progress in implementating the NZ Disability Strategy. While the first work plans submitted by departments covered a 12 month period, in order to satisfy this legislative provision the first progress report only covers the three months from July to September 2001. Consequently, the second progress report covers the remaining nine months from October 2001 to June 2002.
