Leaders and Achievers

A key aspiration of the New Zealand Disability Strategy is about disabled people

  • doing things for themselves
  • to live a good life
  • make decisions over what they do
  • enjoy opportunities for increasing their well-being.

One way to make this happen is for disabled people to help each other overcome barriers to participation, both as individuals and collectively. The government is committed to encouraging leadership in the disability community to help make this happen.

In this section, you will find information on:

  • Recognising Achievers – disabled people and people working in the disability sector who have been recognised for their good work
  • Nominations Service – for disabled people with suitable skills and experience who are interested in serving on government boards and committees.
